What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytosine which may elicit gathering of stem cells around the damaged region stimulating cellular proliferation and tissue regeneration.

In PRP therapy, the patient’s own blood is used for the collection of platelets. Therefore, there is no risk of infection (or minimal if any) or other side effects. Blood is drawn and processed in the presence of the patient, then re-introduced to the body where it is needed on the same day.
